Quick News

Hi everyone,

Just a few quick updates this month.

1. I am rewriting my Viking novel for an editor and hopeful she’ll be interested once I’ve finished the requested edits. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

2. Rat Race Mutiny is now open. I’ve had so many people ask me over the years how they can work from home. I’ll be gathering my guides, ideas, classes and thoughts on this site. There are going to be tons of free resources. I already have the first two articles posted and am working on a third tonight, so go check it out at ratracemutiny.com and bookmark the site for reference. Better yet, sign up for the newsletter, which is simply the RSS feed and you’ll get updates in your email box.

3. Crabby Housewife is going very well. I have several new articles up over there. I love being able to talk about my life as a housewife/writer and share how crabby and grumpy I am and still get a good response. I just finished an article on getting rid of soap scum. Check it out at crabbyhousewife.com.

4. Author Yearbook. The author yearbook contest is over. I’ll be emailing winners in the next week.

Thanks so much. Talk to everyone soon :)

Love you all!

Frenemy - Serial Novel

Dear friends, family and readers,

If you haven’t yet had a chance to read the first seven installments of Frenemy, I hope you’ll hop over to http://lorisoard.com/frenemy and check out my latest story. These characters just seem so real and the situation so familiar that I feel like I could write this story in my sleep. I hope that you enjoy this free serialized novel and subscribe so that you’ll be notified when I post new installments. My goal is to post a new installment at least once a week. Some weeks I post more and some less, but it all balances out in the end.

Happy reading!

Civil War Research

Dear friends,

I can’t even begin to tell you what a blessing it is to be able to write for a living. This is the one thing in my life in which I excel, feel in my comfort zone and just truly enjoy. I believe we are all made for specific tasks and God made me to be a writer. I’m now working about 20 hours a week as an editor and freelance writer with nonfiction projects. I’m also spending some of that time designing websites. However, I am also finding a little time to work on my next fiction project, which will be a Civil War story.

I’m finding the study of the Civil War fascinating, but it seems that I have a lot to learn about the era. So, while I’m excited about my new story, it is going to be a while before I can complete it. I’ll have more news as I move forward.

Warmly,

Lori Soard

What I’m Working On…

I just finished editing a Viking romance and sent it to a publisher that I’ve wanted to be published with since I was nine-years-old. Keep your fingers crossed for me. Now, I am working on a contemporary inspirational romance and have an idea for another historical romance novel. I have some articles to complete and then I’ll be able to get a little more writing in :).

Amazing Author Promotion - One More Spot

As I began laying out the pages for the setup of the author yearbook, I realized that I have one more spot if another author would like to be involved. If you know of someone looking for an inexpensive and comprehensive group promotion, please let them know. Here is the initial email that explains the project:

Hi all,

After discussing some ideas with authors involved in this project, I’ve added quite a few more perks. The cost is still low, much less than many single ads. Details are below. Let me know if you have any questions. I’ll be closing entry into the yearbook as soon as it is full.

Lori’s Latest Release

Words To Write ByHi all,

I just wanted to post a quick note about a contribution I made to the new writer’s devotional book called WORDS TO WRITE BY. I’m so excited about this wonderful resource for writers. It is chock full of useful tips and daily devotionals, along with favorite poems and scriptures. It is available as an e-book or paperback. I have just reviewed the paperback version and it is very nicely put together. I’ll be buying many of these for Christmas gifts this year.

New Class!!!

Filed under: Lori's Books & Writing News, The Cheapskate Queen — Lori @ 1:02 am

BlogoSphere New!!!
12 weeks
Adults (I also have a separate class for teens–just ask me if you have a teen that is interested)
Meet: Once a week for an hour

Learn how to create and write for your own blog. Blogs are taking over cyberspace and are a creative way to have an impact on others and get your message out to the world. We’ll talk about how to write for blogs, length of posts, keeping postings interesting. We’ll also work on helping each student find his/her own niche area to write about, learn where to get free blogs, and even how to make a little extra money from your blog. I make an average of $200 a month on my personal site doing nothing but posting new items and updates from time to time. It does take a little time to get to that level, but its possible to make even more if you work at it.

Limited to 10 students. 5 spaces left

Cost: $75

I have been teaching online classes for over ten years, some free and some more organized classes such as this one with in-depth topics and feedback. I’m published in articles, short stories and books and have a PhD. in Journalism and Creative Writing.

I apologize for any inconvenience, but I cannot help with blog topics about anything that is not PG-rated. If you aren’t sure if your topic is PG or in keeping with my conservative values, please email me privately before registering and we’ll discuss the topic you want to blog about ahead of time.

If you have any other questions, I’d be happy to answer those as well.

Cats!

Hi folks,

Many of you know that I now work for LoveToKnow. One of the areas I’m over is the Cats site. I love working on this site, answering questions about cats and editing articles. There’s always something fresh and new happening at LTK Cats. We cover topics like fur loss, distemper, cats using anything but the litter box and cats fighting with one another.

If you own a cat, or are just thinking about owning a cat, then you’ll want to check out some of the articles and tips on the site. You can visit at cats.lovetoknow.com. Hope to see you there!
